Banana leaves are the traditional plate and wrapper of South Indian cooking and worship. A full meal served on a banana leaf is part of Onam sadya, Pongal and many weddings and functions.
How they are used: serving festival and function meals, offering naivedyam, lining pooja trays and kalasam bases, and wrapping steamed dishes.
What you receive: fresh banana leaves, single or in packs of 2, 5 or 10. Leaves may be whole or cut into large sections.
Fresh leaves are perishable. Size and shade vary from batch to batch, and small tears along the veins are natural.

Care & handling
Care & handling
Keep the leaves rolled or flat in a cool place, wrapped in a damp cloth, or in the refrigerator if you have room. Wipe both sides with a damp cloth before use. Briefly warming a leaf over a low flame makes it soft enough to fold.
